War on Dehydrated Skin 2.0

You want me to put WHAT on my face!?

It’s time to integrate hyaluronic acid into your routine … the right way. It’s funny to see all these beauty brands advertising acid as something we should put on our faces. But this unfortunately named substance is produced naturally in our bodies, and genuinely works wonders for our skin.

This acid functions as a magnet for moisture, helping lubricate your joints, and keeping your skin moist and plump (two words you want describing your skin and absolutely nothing else). The problem is, your body will produce less of this stuff as you age, so you have to gift it to your skin as a supplement.

It doesn’t do the things we typically associate with acids. It’s not harsh. It won’t burn. It’s not an exfoliator, despite many misconceptions. It won’t even give you a trip. It’s a friendly acid. It seeps into your dermis (great dog name by the way) and invites moisture to come over and chill. It’s plenty safe enough to even apply around your eyes.

Many people are familiar with hyaluronic acid from TV commercials, but are either scared to try it because of the name, or more likely, just don’t use it correctly. The most common mistake that I find is applying it in the wrong order. It needs to be the first thing you apply. If you put it on top of 3 inches of creams and moisturizers, it will never reach your skin.

Young or mature, everyone should be using hyaluronic acid, morning and night. Especially here in Colorado where the climate blasts the moisture from our skin like that giant blow dryer at the end of the car wash. Apply to a wet face, and before drying, add your moisturizer right on top.

There are a variety of products that contain this acid, but by far the best format for application is a serum. The trace amounts found in the moisturizers and body lotions you see advertised on TV won’t do as much for you as a good high concentration serum. The Savor Beauty serums I sell are 2% hyaluronic acid, and attract 1,000 times their weight in water. I know some women who would like to attract 1,000 times their weight in men (provided it was more than one man).

If and when you come in for a visit, I’ll teach you exactly how to use these products. It will be fun!
