What is a luxury facial?

Is using the word luxury just an embellishment or does it actually mean something specific?

I remember when I first opened Wild Bird Beauty, my husband and I were working on my website together. I kept insisting that we use the term “luxury facial,” which he seemed to think was mostly semantics not substance. It occurred to me recently that perhaps others might see it the same way. So let me explain what it really means.

One reason I was so excited to start my business here in Longmont was that so many of the places where you could get a facial were franchise businesses. They are, by definition, in the businesses of standardizing their services. Churn out many facials, quickly and efficiently. Luxury, really, is about personalization and customization.

What does the client actually need? What will make the client feel special?

So here are the essential elements of a “luxury facial” that we strive for at Wild Bird Beauty.

1. Customization: We begin with an in-depth consultation to understand your skin's specific needs and concerns. The products and techniques used are carefully tailored to address your unique skincare goals.

2. Premium Ingredients: Luxury facials utilize high-quality skincare products, often containing rare and potent ingredients that offer exceptional benefits. We use Savor Beauty products which are: woman-owned, woman-made, boutique, natural and organic, and ridiculously delicious smelling.

3. Tranquil Environment: The ambiance of a luxury facial should transport you to a serene oasis. Hence my popular bird sounds. You should feel relaxed and removed from the many stresses of the everyday.

4. Advanced Techniques: Luxury facials incorporate advanced skincare techniques, such as microdermabrasion, LED therapy, and high-frequency treatments, administered by someone with real expertise. To me, clients should expect to be able to get any of the latest treatments that could help them not, “sorry we don’t have that.”

5. Extra Steps: It’s about the little extras not typically found in regular facials. These could include specialized masks, serums, and treatments that contribute to a more comprehensive skincare regimen.

A facial should really feel like a luxury anyway, so why not make that the goal?
