Benefit of Natural Skincare

What’s so great about natural/organic skin care anyway?

Even when I first set out to become an esthetician, I knew I wanted to own a “natural” beauty business, full of clean, organic products, and nice nature-y pictures on the wall.

I certainly talk enough about “natural beauty” in my newsletter and other places, and it’s definitely the biggest trend in skincare right now, but every once in a while someone will ask me: is natural skincare actually any better or more effective? What is really the benefit of all this? Well, here goes:

While “natural” and “organic” can be misleading terms in the hands of the wrong people, when they’re done right, there are important benefits that come along:

Fewer Chemicals: Natural organic skincare products tend to have fewer synthetic chemicals and potentially harmful additives. They often rely on botanical extracts, essential oils, and plant-based ingredients, which can be gentler on the skin.

Reduced Sensitivity and Allergies: People with sensitive skin or allergies may find natural organic products more suitable since they are less likely to contain harsh chemicals or common allergens.

Environmentally Friendly: Organic skincare products are often produced using sustainable farming practices without the use of harmful chemicals.

No Animal Testing: My natural organic skincare products from Savor are cruelty-free and do not test their products on animals.

Nutrient-Rich: Organic skincare products may retain more nutrients from natural ingredients since they are typically processed using less heat and fewer synthetic additives. You should be able to tell from an ingredients list - if there isn’t one, be skeptical.

No Synthetic Fragrances: Natural organic skincare products often use essential oils or naturally derived scents instead of synthetic fragrances, which can be beneficial for individuals sensitive to artificial scents.

Of course you always have to remember:  It's essential to do your research, read product labels, and consider your unique skin type and sensitivities when choosing skincare products, regardless of whether they are natural organic or conventional.

Hope it helps!
