Skincare for Longmont

How to build the perfect skincare routine for life in Longmont, CO

My inspiration for starting Wild Bird Beauty was to provide 100% personalized facial treatments for my clients, tailored specifically to their needs and goals. But I often get asked the question: What do you think is the perfect beauty routine for life here in Longmont?

So if you’ll allow me to generalize for a change, here is how I’d build the perfect beauty routine for our beautiful town by the Rockies.

The mission is clear: fend off the punishing climate, dry heat, and high altitude to maintain supple but resilient skin.

  1. Gentle Cleanser: Start your routine with a gentle cleanser that effectively removes dirt, oil, and impurities without stripping the skin of its natural moisture, which you need to retain at all costs.

  2. Hydrating Toner: After cleansing, use a hydrating toner to replenish your skin's moisture levels and balance its pH. Look for toners that contain ingredients like hyaluronic acid, glycerin, or aloe vera to provide an extra boost of hydration.

  3. Moisturizer: Choose a moisturizer that is rich in emollients and humectants to nourish and give love to your skin. Apply it twice a day, in the morning and evening, to keep your skin hydrated.

  4. Sunscreen: For the love of god, use SPF. Use the strong stuff, use it often, use it every day. And, yes, during the winter months! Reapply sunscreen every two hours, especially if you're spending time outdoors.

  5. Lip Balm: Lips have skin too! The dry climate can cause awful, chapped lips, so always carry a hydrating lip balm with SPF to protect and moisturize your lips throughout the day. Hiking is great - looking like you emerged from a near death wilderness experience, not so much.

  6. Weekly Exfoliation: Exfoliate your skin once a week to remove dead skin cells and promote a smoother complexion. Choose a gentle one, not one that could strip the paint off a deck chair.

  7. Hydrating Face Masks: Incorporate hydrating face masks into your routine to give your skin an extra boost of moisture when its begging for it. Look for masks that contain ingredients like hyaluronic acid, aloe vera, or honey to replenish and soothe your skin.

  8. Humidifier: The outdoor environment may be rugged, but it doesn’t mean your at-home environment needs to be too! Give your poor skin a break, especially when you sleep by getting a quality humidifier for your bedroom.

  9. Drink water. All. The. Time. Get a cool looking, over-sized bottle. Put fruit in it, if you have to. Just drink more water than you think you need.

Remember, everyone's skin is unique, so it's essential to pay attention to how your skin responds to different products and adjust your routine accordingly. If you need a good SPF, toner, lip balm or anything else, I sell the full line of Savor Beauty products which are natural, organic, and famous for their incredible scent.
